Eli's 100th day of School

For Eli's 100th day of school all the kids had to make a hat with 100 things on it. Eli made a pirate hat with pennies, brads, skull stickers and gold buttons. The school put on a parade for us to see all the fun hats.

Visit from Grandma and Grandpa Brown

Grandma and Grandpa Brown came to visit. We had a great time. We took them to the Petroglyph national monument, downtown Albuquerque and Santa Fe.

Visit from Great Grandma Perry

Sweet Great Grandma Perry came to visit. We took her to lots of parks with us. The kids loved having her here and never ran out of things to say to her. They talked her little ear off. Telia and kids came to visit too. It was so fun to have her here. The kids loved her!

We took the kids to the Childrens Museum with Grammie and Grampie. I think the adults had just as much fun as the kids! It was a great way to spend the afternoon. Our kids are getting so spoiled with one on one attention. We are so blessed! Thanks Grammie and Grampie!

Merry Christmas!

On Christmas Eve we had a quiet evening with my dad and our family. We sang carols, read the Christmas story and acted it out with hand puppets, and we opened our one gift, new Christmas pj's. The kids were so excited they could hardly go to sleep.

Christmas morning we opened presents, ate cinnamon rolls and went to church. Later Telia and Ben came down and we were able to spend some time with them.

The kids loved being able to finally devour their ginger bread houses.

It has been so fun having Eli off from school for Christmas break! It is not much of a break because most of our time is spent moving in to a bigger home with my Parents. We try to get out though, here is the nativity at the Temple, one of our outings in preparation for Christmas.

Today was our first snow day. Eli and Art walked to school in the snow and no one was there. So we spent some time outside building snowmen and came in to some yummy hot chocolate.

Today marks 7 years of marriage, wow,it has seriously flown by and we can't believe we are 7 years older. I guess time flies when you are having fun. Art surprised me and took me to Tacanos for dinner and then to an improv comedy club called the Box, down town Albuquerque. I was a little worried because comedy sometimes is not so clean, but this was a great place, very smart, funny and very clean! Thank you Art.

We spent Thanksgiving with Telia and Ben in Zuni. I don't have any pictures of the actual dinner but imagine a ton of yummy food and hundreds of pies. After the yummy dinner we went to get our Christmas Tree Zuni style. With a local we drove out, found a tree and cut it down. So awesome. Thanks Telia and Ben for the wonderful weekend, all the yummy food, and our beautiful Tree!

Taking The Train to Santa Fe

Today my Dad took us on the Train to Santa Fe. It was such an adventure and the kids loved riding the train!

In Santa Fe we walked around and saw the old Cathedral, we also ate at Mamasitas the best restaurant in town and then ran to catch our train home. Thanks Grampie for creating such wonderful memories!

Thanksgiving Program

Eli and Daddy's Hike

Art and Eli set out to hike to the top of Sandia Mountain and ride the tram down, but right as they were entering the trail they saw a sign saying the tram was closed today. So they hiked around the trial but were not able to go to the top. Still a fun Daddy date for Eli!

We love Albuquerque because even in the winter you can play outside and enjoy the parks and playgrounds. In Michigan we did not go to a park for 5 months in the winter.

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Eva was insistent on being a cow this year, so here is our cute little cow.

For Eli's school he had to be a story book character so He and Wesley chose to be
Pirate Pete and Pirate Joe.

We got to see a Halloween parade at Eli's school,

we had our traditional dinner in a pumpkin,

lit our scary jack-o-lanterns,

and did some trick-or-treating.

Art scared a few people along the way.
It was a great Halloween. It is fun that the kids are old enough to go trick or treating. This was our first time visiting a actual neighborhood. Eva got the hang of it really quick and did not want the night to end.

Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument

The first time we drove out to Tent Rocks, it was closed due to the fires. Needless to say we were all very disappointed after the hour drive it took to get there. But this time it was open and well worth the trip. It was such a beautiful, fun little hike that everyone enjoyed!

So beautiful! We recommend this hike to everyone. If our two year old can do it so can you!

Eva's Hair

Art is Eva's hair stylist. He loves her hair and takes great care in washing it, trying new products, tests drying verses defusing, etc. He takes many measures to care for her hair and she loves it. It is their special time. Who knew?

Eli had a couple parties this year, it started out with a pirate cake by his sweet Aunt Telia.

We also went to the Zoo with Aunt Telia and cousins.

He got to celebrate with his class at school.

And we had a Transformer Party for Eli at the Park with some friends, what a lucky kid. He was in Birthday Heaven for a couple of days.

My Mom and I took the kids to Albuquerque's famous Balloon Fiesta early in the morning.

It was cold and rainy so none of the balloons actually left the ground, but many blew up their balloons just for fun. It was an adventure.

October Conference in Salt Lake City

This year we got to go to Conference, one of our families favorite traditions that has been put on hold while we were living in the East. Here we are sitting on the grass listening to a session.

We visited This is the Place Monument, it was our first time and we loved it. Such an amazing view. We saw our ancestors name there. Also they had a little farm with animals that the kids loved.

County Fair

Eli kept talking about the County fair that he heard about at school. My sweet Dad took us and the kids had a blast. We loved the Mc Donalds Farm, the kids were introduced to cotton candy and we did the one ride that everyone could do and it didn't cost 20 dollars.

Red Rock Relay

Eli Starts School

Well Eli started school today at Georgia O'Keefe Elementary. His teacher is Mrs. Denis. He was super excited to go and we were all a little sad to see him leave.

3 Major Changes

1. We got a job! Yep, Art was offered a job in Oklahoma City which requires him to travel all week so;
2. He was able to fulfill one of his dreams and get a motorcycle for the commuting.
We feel super blessed and grateful for our dear friends the Deals in helping us get a job. We are excited to be a part of the work force finally. Its been like 4 years.

3. Lastly we are branching out once again and will be welcoming a new member to our family in March 2012.

Sandia Peak

We were able to drive up the the peak of Sandia and found that new mexico has its own version of Aspen Grove of a sort. It was the prettiest drive and the best view at the top. We hiked along the ridge and had dinner at the top. So fun and beautiful.

Santa Fe

Well this weekend we attempted to hike tent rocks national monument but after driving an hour we found out it was closed due to fires and would not open until next weekend. So we tried the lake, also closed. We ended up visiting Santa Fe and saw some pretty amazing art, some trains, and ate yummy spicy food.

My dad made the kids the coolest bunk beds. Basically are in love with them. It reminds me of our awesome home he built us that we lived in our whole lives. Kind of the swiss family robinson style. The kids call it their pirate ship.

San Diego Trip

We took a little trip to San Diego with the Andersons and Grammie. We got to see so many wonderful friends and family. Great Grandma Perry met up with us there. We were super blessed to see Beth Mori and her beautiful girls. We also got to see the Calkins and Logan and Jennilee and their cute kids. San Diego is a beautiful place to visit.

Fourth of July

Starting our road trip in our Van.

For the 4th of July this year we went camping with the Andersons and the Johns up in Silverton Colorado. It was the most beautiful picturesque place ever.

First night the kids and Art did some hiking.

We visited some cool waterfalls in Ouray Colorado, and went swimming in their famous hot springs pool.

On Sunday we went to church in Durango. After we ate lunch by the river and saw a really cool hot water springs formation.

Art and the Boys went hiking, and while on their hike, Wesley got a bee bite right on his cheek. The next day it was so swollen. Poor kid was such a good sport about it.

In Silverton Colorado we went to the fun Fourth of July Parade. The kids loved it and got a lot of loot.

We also saw the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Steam Engine.

That night we saw the best fireworks ever in Silverton Colorado, who knew? The sound reverberated off all the surrounding mountains. It was such a fun, beautiful camping trip. Great place, great people, great food and great memories made. Thanks everyone.

Moving to Albuquerque

We had quite the adventure moving to Albuquerque! My wonderful parents helped us so much. My mom gave us buddy passes to fly the kids and I out and my Dad flew out to help pack up and drive with Art.

So with the car somewhat packed and house somewhat clean we got dropped off at the airport, soon to find out their were no open flights out of Ft. Meyer that day. They suggested renting a car to Tampa and flying out of there. So we did. We ran to the car rental, rented a car and drove up to Tampa to catch a flight.

Here are the kids in our van rental, so nice to drive a van, the kids loved it.

Finally in Albuquerque, Telia and kiddos where there to greet us, we loved seeing them and the kids loved seeing their cousins. However the fun did not end here. We got a call from Art saying the car did not make it, they were in Amarillo Texas and the car died. So the kids and I left early the next day in my Dad's truck to go and pick them up and all of our stuff.On our way to rescue the boys, 5 hour drive one way.

The kids had fun playing with all our stuff strewn all over this ghetto hotel they stayed in.

Such wonderful kids and family, making the most of our adventure. It was all a blessing in the end. We left our car there and Art drove back with a car trailer to bring it home, on his way home towing the car some teenager rear ended the car on the trailer. The insurance claimed it as totaled and we got enough money to buy a van. So in the end we got a Van which has been heaven for me. Good things come to those who wait. And have crazy moving adventures.

They are actually no longer Atkinsons, but were when I met them. These are some of my very best friends. They came down from Tampa and we drove up and met somewhere in the middle. Naples Museum

Swim Lessons

The boys did swim lessons and loved every minute of it. Eva and I just played with water on the deck and she loved that. They are defiantly progressing. The best part was on the last day the boys could go down the water slide that they were too short to do on any regular day at Fun in the Sun. They loved it.

Preschool

We went to the ward valentines Party and everyone had a ball! The kids were sent off to decorate cookies and play, while the adults were involved in a cake decorating contest. Art and his mad cake decorating skills created the salt lake temple and tabernacle. I think they should have won!

Second time this month, we couldn't pass it up. The kids built a really cool sand castle with all the treasures they found on the beach.

Girls Weekend in Albuquerque

We had a great weekend with the girls in Albuquerque. We went shopping, went out to eat, went for little hikes and visited Santa Fe. It was so fun and relaxing, just what we all needed.

Eli making his mark

At Eli's Doctor's office he got to put his hand print on the wall and leave his mark. Every patient gets to leave there mark when they turn 5. Eli was pretty excited!

This is one of our favorite places to go boating. You get to boat to your own private beach on the end of the world. It is very magical.

Organic Community Farm

We visited the organic community farm and saw lots of fun stuff. The worm farm was by far the favorite.

Our Parakeet

We acquired a free parakeet from someone in our Ward. I couldn't pass up the opportunity for the kids to have a pet i don't mind. The kids wanted to name it Sean Flynn after one of Arts class mates that is super sweet and fun with the kids. So we called it Flynn for short.

New Years Eve

Best New Years Ever! We took our boat out in the Ocean to watch the fireworks off the Pier. We were able to feel the fireworks reverberation through the water, when they blasted off and hear their echo off the houses. The fireworks were huge right over our heads. So amazing and beautiful! Then we went home and put the kids to bed and played some games with friends. Perfect way to bring in the New Year!

Hiking through a Panther Reserve

We did a really fun hike through a panther reserve and saw some tracks to prove it. The kids were in heaven.

Christmas 2010

We had a quiet family Christmas this year. Just the five of us. We did the soups and rolls for dinner and acted out the Christmas story from the Bible.

Christmas morning was spent opening stockings and gifts. The rest of the day we spent at the beach. Our new family tradition(at least while we are in Florida).

Christmas Visit from the Stouts

Grammie and Grampie made their rounds for Christmas and we were first on the list. I guess that is the benefit of living in paradise. We did lots of fun things as usual, we are so blessed! First stop was the Beach of course. We also went to the Explora kids museum which was so fun!

We also took a trip up to Orlando and stayed in a huge apartment. We got to visit sea world and loved every minute of it. So fun and the Manta Ray ride is so scary!

Such a perfect day and a wonderful visit! Thank you Grammie and Grampie, we love you and Merry Christmas.

Day at the Dig Park

I love that we can go to the park every day here in Sunny Florida. The kids love it too. This is one of our favorite parks to go to. It is right by our house and besides the awesome playground you see here, there is also a sandy spot to dig through that you can find all sorts of random artifacts.

Angie's Visit

Angie came to visit us and it was so much fun. We went to the Everglades to hike around and she took pictures of the kids. Seriously i did not know she was such a photographer. Check out these pictures! They are amazing! They are the best pictures of my kids and me all year. I would pay for these Angie!

Neighborhood Friends

We live in the best neighborhood ever! There are tons of kids and everyday we can go outside and play with friends. Which is basically what we do everyday.
